Holding on for the win!

It was nip and tuck for Cumberland Athletic Club visiting the Capital District Gunners with a 2:1 win as the final result. CAC took the lead early with a PK goal by Lee Nguyen. That lead looked unlikely to hold up as Stephan Frei earned a shutout point for the Gunners. With a lot of players yet to contribute, the Gunners looked likely to find more and take all 3 points. CAC earned another point with an assist from Michel. In the end, the Wild Marys were fortunate to hold on for the win with the Gunners unable to find more points out of their many opportunities. Coach Ellinger took the blame for the closeness of the match, saying,  "Lineup rotation placed Hamid on the bench and that may not have been my coaching decision. Win or lose, we evaluate all the decisions made in a week's preparation. It appears our analysis of our players and situations was not up to snuff. We will sort it out for next week for our home match with Gold Coast F.C."
