Back to Winning! and Week 13

The Wild Marys played gritty soccer this past weekend winning both the league match against Burud Town and the Majors Cup Qualifier at Gold Coast. Campground stadium was abuzz with rumors that Burud town's bus had gotten waylaid on the way to the match. They literally stepped off the bus minutes before kickoff with some players ruled ineligible due to mishandling of the lineup card by the manager. Still, a riveting contest ensued as the Campers were able to find alternative sources of goals with key contributors Robbie Keane and Omar Gonzalez benched. With Charlie Davies, Chris Tierney, and DP Michael Bradley all contributing points late in the contest, a 3:0 victory was assured. In the Majors Cup Qualifier The Wild Marys traveled to Gold Coast and posted a 5:3 victory. Max Urruti provided added 1 and Michael Bradley tallied 2. Ellinger said, "I'm so very proud of these boys for stepping up the way they did. Tremendous grit, maybe too much  from Tierney and Nguyen [chuckling], carried us through. This is a match that builds tremendous confidence for the remainder of the season and to take into the playoffs."

Red cards for both Lee Nguyen and Chris Tierney make them ineligible for week 13. Fortunately, both Keane and Gonzalez are fit and can take their place.

Roll! Wild Marys Roll!
