Roster Move & Week 18

Cumberland Athletic is pleased to announce the signing of Jorge Villafana D-Midfielder. To make roster space, Luis Gil is being released to pursue his dreams of European football. Head Coach John Ellinger said of Gil, "Terrific talent and attitude, but we could never find the right fit of his skills in our lineup and philosophy of play. I believe he will definitely shine in the right situation and wish him all the best."

Roster Move and Week 17 Lineup

Owing to Gold Cup call ups and injuries, Cumberland Athletic Club is proud to welcome Jeff Attinella (RSL) to the team. He will start in goal in this week's match. To make room for Attinella, Demar Phillips is released.

In celebration of the Independence Day Holiday and the rich history of the game of marbles in the Cumberland, Maryland area, there will be pre-game and half-time activities devoted to marbles.

A competition among the best players in the region will occur beginning 2 hours before game time.

At half-time, instead of the usual human soccer ball match, the game will be human marbles using the same inflated balls with people inside. Hilarity is sure to ensue.

Week 15: Back at it!

With the international break over, it is time for assessing where we stand. After starting the season on an unimaginable tear of excellent form (and benefitting from good luck, gotta have some luck), Cumberland Athletic dashed off 5 wins. That was extended to 7 wins and 1 loss. Since then, however, it has been uneven, charitably: 1 win, 4 losses and 1 tie. Tied for 2nd place (third place on PPG) with 2 other teams, CAC is needing to find new life. It is hoped the international break will heal some wounds and form will return. The playoffs loom and that is where the shiny stuff lives!

This week we are at home against Second City another tied-for-2nd place team. So, a 6-pointer! Roll Wild Marys! Roll!!! Campground stadium will be booming with noise welcoming home from international duty Robbie Keane, Michael Bradley and Jordan Allen.
